Trip to Russia

TARTU – PETSERI – IZBORSK – PIHKVA – NOVGOROD THE GREAT –ST.PETERSBURG – TARTU

1ST DAY 1

Crossing the Estonian-Russian border .The arrival at the Petseri Monastery at about 9.00a.m. Walking around in the territory, seeing the main sights. A short drive to Izborsk, looking around in the old fortress area: old ruins and beautiful surroundings. The drive to Pihkva, lunch. City tour with a local guide by bus and on foot. The main attractions (including the Kremlin) of one of the oldest towns in Russia. Departure from Pihkva to Novgorod at about 4.00p.m. Arrival in Novgorod in the evening, accomodation in ** hotel in twin rooms, dinner at the same hotel.

2ND DAY Breakfast at 8.00a.m. At 9.00a.m. starts the city tour of Novgorod the Great with a local guide for 3hours. It includes the Kremlin, St. Sophia Cathredal, the Millennium of Russia Memorial, Yaroslav`s Court and Marketplace, several churches and chambers, the Church of Our Saviour-at-Ilino where you can see the unique frescoes by Byzantine painter Theophanes the Greek. We also visit the Yurev Monastery and the Vitoslavlitsy Open-Air Museum of Wooden Architecture.

Lunch. At about 4.00p.m. departure to St Petersburg. Accomodation in *** hotel. Free time in the evening.

3RD DAY Breakfast at 7.00a.m. From 8.00 to 11.00a.m - . the city tour with a local guide, general overview of the city by bus. After that we briefly acquaint ourselves with the Cruiser Aurora, the Peter and Paul Fortress, the Museum Monument “Our Saviour on the Blood”, the Kazan Cathredal, St. Isaac`s Cathedral.

Lunch at about 2.00p.m. After lunch we visit the State Hermitage Museum with the local guide. Canal cruise to admire the marvellous architecture of St. Petersburg. Free time.

4TH DAY Breakfast at 8.00a.m. The drive to the Palace-and-Park Ensemble Tsarskoye Selo which is a former country residence of Russian emperors. We visit the historical buildings and magnificent gardens. The tour ends with lunch. After that we start the way back to Estonia.
